nov28-2008Raaj Brar started his career at various advertising agencies as an Account Executive in Vancouver.

Raaj later went on to a role as a consultant for corporate blue chip clients who were interested in developing their internal and external corporate culture. In 1999 Raaj felt the need to create a strong media channel that connected South Asians across Canada and the US, and SouthAsianLife.com was born. SouthAsianLife.com now is the largest ethnic site in Canada according to comScore/mediametrics. In 2009 it won the CEMA Award for inspiring editorials on young South Asian women.

In early 2009, Raaj discovered an online market gap for online media content that uses ‘Social Media’ as leverage to connect with that audience daily through online magazines. He tested the idea on Facebook in the summer of 2009 with some Fan Pages, which quickly in two weeks got over 25,000+ fans. He further looked at the analytics from Facebook, and performed focus groups to determine the online market opportunity. After careful overview of the results, Raaj introduced in Fall 2009, ‘The Man Life‘, ‘The Woman Life‘ brands. Pre-rolling 30 days into the launch Raaj introduced ‘Frontline Wire‘ a news, technology, sports, health, business, finance, auto and lifestyle online brand, and ‘HD Imax‘. Also along side ‘Models & Actors‘ talent based website which has already over 10,000+ fans. The RSKB total fan + member as of March 31st, 2010 is over 105,000+ and growing at the rate of over 570+ fan/members daily.

Raaj is considered as one of the most knowledgeable individuals in Canada regarding the buying habits, media habits, product preferences and cultural idiosyncrasies of the ethnic and online market. Mr. Brar’s profound knowledge of his community can be directly attributed to the comprehensive online surveys he frequently conducts on the website.

Raaj manages the editorial department, creative look & feel of the site, and strategic business partnerships. Raaj lives with his daughter Neha in Woodbridge, ON Canada.
